How To Set a Default Browser and Mail App in iOS

Apple’s stock App’s Are Just That… Stock

With a lot of newer, more advanced and more frequently updated apps that are popping up all the time, something more advantageous for iOS modders has arrived. A simple "Mobile Safari" or custom "mail" is not enough. Before we tell you how to kill the stock, you should have a replacement lined up!

Browser’s

For me there are two possibilities. Mercury vs. chrome. Both show a significant improvement in speed and functionality in their counterpart shares. I recommend you try both out before you try to make your final decision. Both are free in the App Store, then there is no reason not to give them both a try and decide for yourself.

Email

One of my biggest complaints with the stock Mail application is the lack of a role of "Mark All Read" and for me, Sparrow is the only option if you check you looking for a new application, get rid of all spam at once.

However, if you want, there is an alternative way to get this wonderful feature painfully to reach a mod in Cydia called "allmail". Allmail extends the functionality of the application of the values for you to choose all the features that you can do is to go and when Mark All Read.

Now That We Know What You’ll Be Using

Let’s get to modding. You’ll need two, or one, app(s) from Cydia, both free depending on which route you decide to take.

To select a default browser in Cydia you need an application with the name "BrowserChooser" the price of free! So you can choose to chrome, mercury and certain other is the default browser. With this add on links may open in Safari at first, but fear not, they are sent to the browser of your choice as soon as the page loads.

The mod allmail iOS is available for installation on many repo listed on our site. Once installed, just turn on "Settings" and check the stock email application. It is perfectly integrated.

To use Sparrow as the default mail client, you need to download an app called Cydia "Sparrow +" in the repository of our list.

We hope that these changes have your iOS device made just that much more unique and special for you. And I hope this makes life easier because, well, that's why we are here right?
